Qualification for New Mexico Bar Exam

The applicant must be able to graduate with a J.D. Degree. Additionally, they must be professionally certified for admission in the state bar in New Mexico. In addition, they must meet all child and the spousal support requirements under an order or judgment for support” according to the Parents Responsibility Act Section 40-5A-1 to 40-5A-13 NMSA 1978. If the applicant isn’t in compliance with the requirements of the child or spouse’s support applicants will not be approved in the admission process until the candidate can provide the board with evidence of compliance with the ruling or order.

New Mexico Bar Exam Eligibility

Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Those students whose JD is not from an ABA-Approved law school, be a licensed bar member in good standing in another state & have practiced law for four of the past six years.

Fitness & Character standards & investigation

In order to pass the New Mexico bar exam, you must score at least 260 of 400, which is 130 on the MBE’s 200-point scale. The scores of the exam sections are weighted as follows: MEE 30%, MPT 20%, and MBE 50%.

New Mexico Bar Exam Fee is $500. And, on Day 2 is Multistate Bar Exam (MBE). It contains a total, of 200 questions, a multiple-choice exam (100 questions in the morning & 100 questions in the afternoon.

New Mexico Bar Exam Format

This is a 2-day Uniform Bar Exam (UBE). Day 1: Paper contains six 30 – minute Multistate Essay Exam (MEE) questions & two 90-minute Multistate Performance Test (MPT) questions. On Day 2 is Multistate Bar Exam (MBE) contains 200 questions, a multiple-choice exam. The paper contains 100 questions in the morning & 100 questions in the afternoon.
